INTRODUCTION

Polytechnic Tawau Sabah (PTS) is the 36th Malaysian Polytechnic and the youngest polytechnic established in Malaysia. PTS was registered on 1 September 2017 in Tawau, Sabah under the auspices of the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK), Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (KPT).

Polytechnic Tawau offers 2 diploma study programs namely Diploma in Tourism Management (DUP) and Diploma in Recreational Tourism (DRT). The DUP program was initially offered at Polytechnic Sandakan Malaysia, while it moved since December 2018 to Tawau. For your information, DRT program is the latest study offered at Tawau Polytechnic in March 2023. All these study programs are under the Department of Tourism and Hospitality (JPH).

In program Diploma Tourism Management, you will learn how to plan, manage, and action in a management. Not only that, but you will also be open minded or better understand what kind of jobs and know more about tourism, in this industry, you must continually cooperate as a team and tolerate each other.

In the Diploma Recreational Tourism course, you'll learn more about how to manage activities such as preparing itineraries and activities. At the same time, you will learn land recreation and water recreation, doing recreational activities should require a lot of energy.

FACILITIES THAT PROVIDED BY PTS

PTS is the only Polytechnic and Teacher Education Institute (IPG) in Malaysia that co-exist in one area. PTS and IPG Campus Tawau share facilities and workforce despite having different visions and missions.

PTS also provides hostel facilities for students namely Kamsis Teratai and Kamsis Akasia. This hostel takes 8 or 5 minutes to class. The most unique in this hostel is that 1 room has 2 people, this hostel has provided beds, study tables, chairs and lockers to store things. So students don't need to bring a lot of things, just bring essentials. Other facilities such as toilets, bathrooms, laundry rooms, ironing rooms and meeting rooms are also available.

The location of PTS is also strategic in the tourism sector because it is not far from Tawau Airport (12km)

Sebatik Island, Malaysia-Indonesia (47km) and the tourist jetty to the leading islands in Semporna (74km).

In addition, Tawau also has interesting tourist destinations such as Bukit Tawau (56km) which is recognized by the world for the discovery of the tallest tropical tree and is the remains of an ancient volcano. 

Bukit Gemok (46km) has its own canopy bridge.

Tawau Hot Spring (41km) between two well-known hot spring pools in Sabah besides Poring, Ranau. Tanjung Market (37km) has a variety of seafood sales such as anchovies, shrimp and dried fish at the lowest prices so that it becomes the main focus of local tourists throughout Malaysia if they stop by the town of Tawau.

Practical Work 3 Theme Park

Theme park is an amusement park in which landscaping, building, and attraction are based on one more specific theme. They usually contain a selection of different types of rides,  along with shops, restaurant and other entertainment outlets.

Escape Petaling Jaya  is a theme park for family to play together for fun. This theme park access to over 55 attractions and activities in Escape Challenge, this activities were not recommended for those with medical conditions such as high blood pressure, epilepsy, pregnant women, etc.

For your information, the opening hours at Escape Petaling Jaya was on Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 20:00. They always closed on Monday,  so you may plan well when did you want to go for fun trip.

Hot Springs Night Park is more than just a theme park, it have multi-themed action and adventure family holiday destination. This theme park has exciting activities such as water park, natural hot spring, performances, animal petting, feeding sessions and more fun activities.
